Cover is a rather hefty app for a launch screen – 19 MB – but you don’t need to to do much to get it working. All you need to do it is provide it with the location of your home and that of your place of work (the company assures us that these details will be kept confidential). The app then tries to work out your app using patterns and whenever you switch on the display, Cover displays the apps that it thinks you are most likely to use at your current location and time and displays right on your lock screen....

Whenever something threatens the voice revenue of AVoID (Airtel, Vodafone, Idea), they immediately have a knee-jerk reaction. I’ll list out some of the instances below. When I signed up to write for TechPP, you folks told me that my job was to cover gossip in the tech world. Well, something similar has happened in the case of the Gionee A1. The phone was launched with a focus (pun intended) on its 16.0-megapixel selfie camera, backed with a high-profile Selfiestan ad campaign featuring Bollywood star Alia Bhatt. But after a few weeks of using it, we really think that there is more to Gionee’s flagship other than a high megapixel front-facing camera. Selfiestan? Yeah, but “normal”istan is good too!...

Gionee Marathon M5 will be launching in Bangalore next week, i.e November 24 and to start with, it will retail as online exclusive. We expect the phone to be priced around Rs 18,700 (or in fact a little lesser). The M5 is fitted with a 5.5-inch HD display and draws its power from a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with a 3GB RAM. On the storage front, the phone offers 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that can further accommodate 128GB....

Seats have further been extended to accommodate your friend in better comforts and the Gogoro 2 comes with larger 14-inch wheels at the front and a 13-inch one at the back, both of which translate to better control. The wheelbase has also been increased and a new synchronised braking system is expected to improve the overall stability. The under seat storage is something commendable with the room for two helmets....

Motion Stills is an app Google released last year for providing iOS users the ability to edit their Live Photos and share them as GIFs. Of course, the application’s Apple-specific features aren’t particularly useful for Android and hence, the company has brought in some nifty new additions for its own operating system. For starters, Motion Stills allows you to generate iOS’ “Live Photos” on Android where you essentially just need to take a regular picture and the app will automatically create a short GIF out of it....

The report also mentions about provisional specs of the first Tizen smartphone. It comes with a 4.8-inch 720p (HD) display, powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. No word on other details like RAM, camera and internal storage. From the leaked image, we can see that the externals look very similar to the existing range of Galaxy smartphones, while the UI is reminiscent of Windows Phone’s square tiles UI....

To jog your memory, a couple of months back, Google teased an image of the alleged Pixel 4 on Twitter, which gleamed light on the possibility of the presence of a Soli Chip on the device. For the uninitiated, Soli Chip is a part of Project Soli and comes from Google’s ATAP group. It uses radar to enable various types of touchless interactions and allow users to perform actions like change tracks, navigate screens, snooze alarms etc....

What GPU Turbo basically does is increase the efficiency of graphics processing during gameplay by 60% while reducing the power consumption by 30%. Neat, right? And for the icing on the cake, Huawei also promised to roll out an update to most of its existing devices which would enable GPU Turbo on them, hence indicating that the feature is entirely software based and has nothing to do with tweaking of the GPU itself....

The Honor Watch Magic comes with a 1.2-inch OLED screen and a stainless steel exterior.
