There have been multiple reports that Google will be killing the Nexus brand and replace with Pixel, indicating a massive change in strategy. Unlike Nexus phones, Pixel is expected to be premium, with prices expected to start at $649. The tweet too shows a Google logo, not a Nexus logo. The 2016 Pixel smartphones are believed to be produced for Google on behalf of HTC, which also made the first ever Nexus phone.
— Google (@Google) September 20, 2016 Also Read: Google Pixel Render Video Leaked For the uninitiated, the smaller Pixel phone, code-named Sailfish, is rumored to feature a Full HD display, a quad-core 2GHz processor (possibly Snapdragon 820), 4GB of RAM and a 2,770-mAh battery. It’s also expected to offer a 12-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel shooter up front. The larger Pixel XL phone, code-named Marlin, should have those same cameras, but a bigger Quad HD screen and a faster processor — possibly the Snapdragon 821. There are also rumors about a Huawei built tablet, possibly a successor to the 2013 Nexus 7 made by Asus. There’s also a possibility of seeing the Google-built VR headset supporting Daydream, as well as 4K Chromecast. Google is expected to livestream the event on their YouTube channel on Oct 4.
