Gionee Marathon M5 will be launching in Bangalore next week, i.e November 24 and to start with, it will retail as online exclusive. We expect the phone to be priced around Rs 18,700 (or in fact a little lesser). The M5 is fitted with a 5.5-inch HD display and draws its power from a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with a 3GB RAM. On the storage front, the phone offers 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that can further accommodate 128GB. The Marathon M5 will sport a 13-Megapixel primary snapper and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. It hosts the usual set of connectivity features including dual-band LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The phone runs on Amigo UI based on Android Lollipop 5.1. The Gionee M5’s 6020mAh battery is actually made up of two 3,010mAh cells, thanks to the dual battery technology. If that was not just enough, Gionee has also devised an extreme mode which will let the smartphone survive for 62 hours on a meager five percent of charge. The Marathon series of phones cater to a certain niche of buyers and even in this segment we do have some worthy contenders for the Marathon M5, in the form of Lenovo Vibe P1 which comes with a 5000 mAh battery. The Vibe P1 comes with similar features as the Marathon M5 and is currently priced at Rs 15,999. Recently, Oukitel K6000 was announced in China that comes with 6000mAh battery, but Marathon M5 is still the one to beat!
