Steps to Recreate Facebook Profile Picture Hack

All I did was, just followed these simple steps which Stravock clearly explains in the video. Note that I hardly know the ABC (or PHO) of Photoshop. It’s really simple and would take 15-20 minutes of your time.

  1. Take a screenshot of your current Facebook page.
  2. Create a new Photoshop doc.
  3. Grab the Slice tool (same family as the Crop tool) and select around the pictures.
  4. With the Marquee tool, select around the sliced areas.
  5. Bring the image that you want on Facebook into Photoshop and position it roughly the way you want it.
  6. Drag the image layer under the Facebook layer and refine your positioning.
  7. Go to “File,” select “Save for web and devices,” select all your document area, click “Jpeg, set the quality to 100% and save. Under slices select “All user slices.”
  8. Upload your pictures to Facebook and tag them from last to first. When you get to the first picture click “Make this my profile picture.” Alternatively, you can simply download this PSD template and and import your picture as a new layer. Then choose File –> Save for Web and this should save all the sliced images in one folder. Tip: Make sure you crop out the original picture before you begin. If you don’t have Photoshop or feeling lazy

No need to fret. Trevor Farbo has created a Facebook profile picture generator that allows you to get “almost” the same effect in half the time. Why “almost“? That’s because, in more than 5 tries I had with the tool, it failed to align the pictures properly, possibly a small bug which he can correct it at the backend. He might already have fixed it, so do give it a try. Tip: Though this looks simpler, the Photoshop is method is a foolproof way to get this hack right. By the way here is my attempt –
